Top 10: best tourist spots in DC (part 1)
Get to know a little more about 10 historical points that we select for those who want to come to the US capital
Washington DC has a lot of museums and historical sites – about 200, if we want to be (kinda) specific. However, the capital of the United States has 10 places that we can consider, let’s say, iconic! And it was these sights we separated to make our guide. Each one in its own way, they reveal the essence of both DC and the US itself. Come with us on this tour!
CAPITOL
The US Capitol is the American equivalent to the Brazilian Congress. The most important decisions of the country have been taken in this building since November 17, 1800 – and can be accompanied by visitors, who see everything from the second floor.
WHITE HOUSE
One of the greatest American symbols, the White House is the official residence of the family of the president of the United States, as it is the place of work of the commander in chief of the country. So we can say that Donald Trump is the newest homeoffice practitioner!
LINCOLN MEMORIAL
Did you know that the Lincoln Memorial is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year? That means you can be one of the 6 million visitors that the monument receives per year whenever you want!
SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE
The Smithsonian Institute brings together 19 museums and seven research centers, in which more than 142 million items tells the whole human story. The complex, which has museums that keep from dinosaur fossils to ships that went to the moon, is a must-see for anyone in Washington DC!
JEFFERSON MEMORIAL
The Jefferson Memorial was inaugurated on April 13, 1943 – the date that marked Thomas Jefferson’s 200th birthday. The memorial has a statue of the third president next to the Declaration of Independence, which gives the place a very solemn air.
