Strolling by Howard County
County, which is part of the Baltimore / Washington DC metropolis, is one of the most prosperous in the country
Columbia, HC’s most populous city, is one of the best places to live in the US
Howard County is a great destination for travelers who are in Baltimore and Washington DC. The county, one of the 23 counties of the state of Maryland, is best known for the great quality of life that offers to its residents – which is reflected in clean, tree-lined streets, green parks and the best educational system of the state.
The two main cities of the county are Ellicott City and Columbia. While the first – which is the county capital and home to 66,000 inhabitants – is a historic town founded in 1772 with a fascinating old quarter, the second is an ode to modernity, it has been planned in the 1960s and today serves as address to more than 100 thousand people.
The Ellicott City streets resemble cities like Penedo and Nova Friburgo (RJ)
So, how about we start the tour from the oldest part of the county? The Main Street Historic Ellicott City is a delightful charm. The streets with slight hills are adorned by flowers of all possible colors and, as we moving away from the center, the landscape changes in the suburbs populated by those houses with gardens that we see in Hollywood movies.
Heading south, we leave Ellicott City and arrived in Columbia. Designed in the 1960s with the goal of eliminating racial, social and religious divisions that plagued the United States at the time (any resemblance to the present day is not a coincidence), the city surpassed the 100 thousand mark without losing its original purpose . Since it was inaugurated in 1967, it is always in the Top 10 ranking of the best cities to live in the USA.
The United States is a beautiful country, intense and extremely varied within its own territory. Rely on our services to lead you through the American soul, showing you more than places, their history. We expect you here!
