The Center of the Arts in Washington DC
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has a crowded cultural agenda and is a symbol of New Year’s Eve at the capital
The man who was one of the most popular presidents of the United States gives his name to one of the most pulsating places in Washington DC: even though he was lamentably shot in a fateful November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas, John Fitzgerald Kennedy entered eternity not only by its popularity but also to baptize the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Opened in September 1971, the Kennedy Center hosts music, theater and dance performances throughout the year – among them the traditional Swan Lake, a North American symbol! This classic ballet recital is one of the symbols of the best time to visit the place. At the end of the year, in addition to coloring with Christmas lights and decorations, the building still hosts the greatest classics of American performing arts!
One of them is a few days away. The Nutcracker is a traditional Christmas tale staged in end-to-end US schools and theaters throughout the year. And of course the Kennedy Center also has its version, which in 2016 takes place on November 23 and 27!
In addition to receiving numerous performances, the venue still awards two annual awards: the Kennedy Center Honors, which targets five artists or groups from different areas such as dance, music, theater, opera, film and television, who have contributed to the aggrandizement of the American culture. Another local honor is the Mark Twain Humor Award, created in 1998 to honor prominent comedians.
“We must never forget that art is not a form of propaganda, but a form of truth”, said John f. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States of America.
As an art lover, the President would be happy to see your name on a live site like the Kennedy Center – and we honor your memory by bringing more people to know the place. We wait for you here in DC to know with all the comfort, security and privacy the soul of the great country that is the USA!
