Washingtonian magazine is well-known for its annual ranking with Washington’s 100 Best Restaurants. And just like last year, we brought in our blog the top 10 on the list, so you can set up your travel itinerary including these true gastronomic gems on your tour. Check out the first part of the list!
- Sushi Taro
Six seats at a counter and waiting for up to a month to get a place on the list. This is Sushi Taro, a Japanese restaurant located in Dupont Circle known for its delicate flavors and rare ingredients.

What to Eat: Mushroom Soup (Omakase); Hot udon made in the house; Tofu; Sushi and sashimi, including king salmon and scallops.
- The Inn at Little Washington
Chef Patrick O’Connell’s guides diners across the country through The Inn at Little Washington’s menu. Guests can choose from three six-course menus or mix and match Vegetarian, Classic or “Here and Now” dishes. The egg shell stuffed with a luscious foie gras mousse and Sauternes Gelée is “pure elegance”, according to Washingtonian’s review.

Fire is the key ingredient to the chef Jeremiah Langhorne’s strong southern accent cuisine. The highlight are the fried things, like Langhorne’s version of sugartoads, a typical Chesapeake Bay fried pufferfish and served with warm honey.
